Dave

This is my friend Dave. One of the funnest and funniest people I know. A smile and a laugh for everyone. Strength and grace all in one. Even on his bad days he has a smile for you and a story or two. An excellent friend.
Dave graduated with my sister Kori. He has been one of her best friends for many years.
Dave is dying of cancer.
A couple of months ago, when the chemo and other assorted treatments the doctors tried weren't working anymore he said "enough" and stopped treatment. However, no matter how sick he is he shows up at "charch night". The first Wednesday of the month, every month. For over a year some of Amery's class of '77 (and other tagalongs like me and Kelli) get together at a local restaurant and laugh, tell stories and just be with each other. As Dave's time comes to an end here on this earth, and he looks to his eternity we try to spend as much time with him as we can. So we don't ever forget that laugh, that smile, that love.
So here's a letter to my friend:
Dear Dave,
I love your laugh, your strength and the way you accept people the way they are, no matter what. I love your friendliness and stories. First Wednesdays have become very important in my life. Even if I don't get to talk to you one-on-one, because everyone wants to be by you, I like to watch you interact with the people you have known for so many years. The times I have talked to you one-on-one are special in my heart. Chatting glasswork, and art and the projects we are working on. You are a special man, your family and wife have been blessed by your life, as we all have.
I love ya man.
Kristi

Sweet post! Dave sounds like a special guy and what a blessing for you to walk this road with him. Not an easy path but I know he's glad he's not alone and that he's got friends like to you to share it with.

Hugs to you!

I recently found myself writing a similar letter to a dear friend who received it only about 14 hours before she was called to her eternal home. It was a blessing to write it. I find myself seeing the world through very different eyes. God bless Dave, his family and friends as they make this journey together.

By writing this, you have shared Dave with many others that will never get a chance to meet him in person.

Thank you.
