Trust Me.

I am not one to believe in coincidence. I believe that God is sovereign, and everything that happens is orchestrated by Him.
With that in mind, let me tell you a story.
Lately I have been feeling sorry for myself in the car department. My car is falling apart, the brakes need to be fixed, the air conditioning decided to go belly up this Spring, and on Wednesday I got pegged by a rock and the windshield cracked.
So I coveted all the nicer cars I saw driving down the freeway, I visited carsoup and "shopped", knowing full well that a new(er) car is just not in the budget right now.
By the way, the car I see in my future is red. Just so you know.
I was coming home from the bank in St. Paul this morning and I was convicted bigtime for my covetousness. I all but felt the slap upside the head.
I confessed and repented, told God that I know He gives us all we need, and if it isn't a nice red van that is ok. Really. We have a comfortable home, a car that goes from A to B in comfort, and we can pay all our bills. What's to want?
As soon (an I mean AS SOON) as I ended my prayer of confession, a beautiful red van pulled alongside and passed me. It was as if God was saying, "My time, not yours, I have your back."
I laughed and cried and thanked Him for the rest of the trip. What a God I serve.

Red cars get pulled over more than any other color anyway. I don't know about vans though...

Thank you for sharing. I've been struggling with a covetous heart lately, too. Feeling trapped and sorry for oneself always makes somebody else's grass look greener.
Needed this post. Thank you.
