I Just Wanted A Place For The Winter!

Today as I was getting gas at my favorite station--you get to vacuum your car while the attendant pumps your gas--I was finishing up and I saw a bee in my car. I'm sure he thought (as all bees do) that a nice warm car would be an ideal place for the hibernation months--wait, what do bees do in the winter?
So I tried to coax him out the open door, out the open window, no go. I went around to the other side and opened that side door and he flew out the passenger side window.
Ok.
I closed the side door, and started walking around the front of the car to close the other door and he flew in the driver's window.
The other people at the station must have thought I was a nut because I had to walk around opening the doors AGAIN before he finally decided I was too much of a pest and flew away.

You are far to good of a person. I'd have given him one shot at escape and then he'd have met the business end of that vacuum.

Oh, I would not have even given the bee a chance. Vacuum, first choice, only choice.

I am picturing you doing a Chinese Fire Drill. Just you and the bee.

As of this week I have a fifth grade education in bees and learned that bees live out the winter huddled together in their hives, but hornets and yellowjacket queens hibernates (the rest of the h and y workers and drones die). Not only did I learn one thing this week, I got to share it! Feels just like elementary school again.

Hey, is that the station in Stillwater? I love that one...off of Osgood......especially in the winter. Otherwise, my car would never get vacuumed.
