8th Grade vs. 6th Grade

We got a call from the assistant principal of Eli's school this morning. Eli got punched in the face by an 8th grader on the bus. John listened to the AP, got the story, and a couple hours later I went to talk to Eli at school. I looked at his eye and there were knuckle bruises and a thumb bruise all around his temple. The kid must have really pasted him. As I was walking into the office to sign him out, the AP asked me to come in for a chat. I found out that a couple of boys on the bus have been harassing Eli and his friend for a while, throwing pencils and paper, stuff like that. I also found out that one of them LIT ELI's HAIR ON FIRE YESTERDAY! Why, oh why doesn't the boy tell me things like this?
Now, before you think that Eli is the innocent victim in this mess, he has been giving the boys crap on the bus (including the effenheimer) and yesterday as he was riding his bike in the neighborhood shot his airsoft gun at the two boys as they swore at him and called him all kinds of names.
I signed him out of school, got the story from him, and brought him home. As it happened we had a chiropractor appointment set up for today, so off we went. The Dr. said that Eli will need to see a crainal chiropractic specialist in St. Paul to get all the bones in his skull put right again.
John said that he will take Eli to the boy's house tonight to see if they can get this all worked out.
Stay tuned for the continuing saga.

I'm sorry! It hurts, I don't mean Eli's head, I mean hearts. I hate the stuff Isaiah goes through and he's just a kindergartner, I can't imagine the big kid stuff. I hope all goes well and everyone can feel safe and secure about the situation. I'll pray for you and the other family. :)

I guess some things never really change. School bullies are hard to deal with. Good luck and keep us posted. It may give others some ideas on how to handle situations like this in the future.

I am just beginning to learn how cruel elementary school kids can be. I have no idea why I am surprised, I mean I did attend grade school. I just don't remember it being so awful. Maybe I just tucked it all away.

I will be interested to see how this all shakes out.
