Yesterday we had an errand day. Got to our appointments at the dentist, found out that H&E BOTH need orthodontia--I really thought Hannah was done--but no. Dropped the bags and bags of stuff off at Goodwill, picked up my sewing machine--ready for the quilt retreat now, and went out for lunch. Hannah had her heart set on a special dish at TGI Fridays, so we hit the one in Maplewood. Had the door opened for us and were greeted (kind of) and seated. And there we sat. And sat. And sat. Fifteen minutes later, after being ignored by every server who passed our table--one of the ladies passed four times--we walked out. Interesting that the host who opened the door for us 15 minutes before, opened it for us to exit, and told us to have a good day. ARRRGGHHH.
Okay! I knew of another TGI Fridays in Woodbury, so we headed there for another try. What did we get there? Exactly the opposite. June, who is our new best friend, greeted us as friends at the door, led us to our table and took our drink order immediately. Since we already knew what we wanted, our orders were in the system in about 4 minutes. June was attentive, treated us like we were the only people there, which at 3 in the afternoon was almost true, and basically made our day. After dessert, full tummies, and a 40% tip, we were all happy.
Moral: Skip the TGIF in Maplewood, and go to Woodbury, have June serve you, and um, have a good day. Oh, and when you have great service, leave a note for them on the corporate website. Ditto for the crappy service.
