Last night John Eli and I were downtown having dinner and taking a walk to Kelley Gallery to see Pop's stuff on display. Eli kept saying the "slug-a-bug" line and "slugging" John. Actually it was a soft hit on the arm.
Over and over.
And over.
John was a little confused, but took the "slugs".
When we were on the way home I saw a Bug and gave a "slug-a-bug" to Eli.
"Oh!" John said, "You meant Volkswagens! I thought you were talking about real bugs."
I guess the Pops didn't play that game when he was young.
