I had an "Ah, Honey" moment this week. A single-parent friend was going out of town and asked me if I could take his children overnight the day before they went to the place they would be staying for the week. A gap-filler if you will. I said sure, not only because he needed the help, but these children are a couple of the kindest, most gentle children I know. A joy to have around. In a casual conversation about the host-family I was asking about the family members.
"So you're staying there the whole time your dad is gone?"
"Yeah."
"Is it just the mom, dad and the daughter?"
"Uh, huh."
"Is the mom nice?"
"Well, not as nice as you, but yeah."
"Ah, honey, thank you!"
Insert huge smile here.
