Flannel

I have so much spinnig around in my head it's hard to get it all together. To many days of not blogging I guess. If I remember to blog every day then I can keep it straight, but when I am overwhelmed, it is hard to blog. Catch 22 anyone?
So I donned my "first flannel shirt ever"--now I see why Poppers wears these things all the time, like being wrapped in a warm blankie--and decided to let you all in on the mess.

We are in the midst of having Eli tested for ADD/ADHD. I have tried everything I can think of, and have tried a lot of things I have read about, heard about and seen. Some work kinda, a lot of them kinda not. The thought of putting my son on drugs so he can function well in school makes me cry--not that I am doing something "wrong" (although I used to be of that opinion), but that I have waited so long to take this action. My stubborn nature.
I guess what bothers me most is having to deal with the know-it-all medical people. I was told on the phone that since I had new insurance to "make sure you bring the card with you". Really? Wow, good thing you told me that, I was going to leave it on the kitchen table. Sheesh.

Kelli hurt her back and wasn't able to do the paper route this Wed. Carla graciously grabbed the baton, and went along with me to help. Thanks Karli, we had fun, huh?

I'm gonna go clean the tub now--or fill it and fall into the bubbles, who knows?

I'm sorry to hear you are going through this, it is not easy. We are going through the same thing with Mikayla, she is 12. She can't focus on anything and has poor memorization skills. I have to tell her things over and over.
Don't feel guilty about giving him a perscription, if it helps him you might feel so relieved. It doesn't mean he has to take it forever- maybe just see how it goes? You say you have tried other avenues- Have you had him tested for food allergies? Besides the dairy thing? Allergies to food seem to bother some people more than others~
Take a soak in the tub, you sound like you need one. If I wasn't sick I would bring you a candle, some fudge, and a little music to go with it......

don't feel bad. worrying yourlelf sick about your kid means your doing it right. I can sympathise. my mom drug me through school by my feet and there where claw marks on the floor, but she never gave up and i think that helped me the most. good luck Kristi

I've never tried flannel IN the tub. Wonder if the combination would be even more miraculous... Kristi, thanks for sharing your heart. You are a good momma.

If it helps any --- it takes a perscription to get glasses. Glasses help those who need them function better. Sooner or later you can't get your chair any closer to the board or your nose any closer to the book and you need "outside help." I'm there with you sister. The "medicine" does help those who need it. (I try not to use the word drugs unless I'm referring to another life, teehee.) If you don't see a dramatic improvement, almost immediately, then you know what they are suggesting is wrong. We saw same day improvement when youngest started medication.

Love your candid thoughts, Kristi. I have no words of wisdom...

I am sure you have tried this, but just wanted to mention that chiropractors that specialize in the cranial-sacral technique have done wonders with ADHD. Just a thought.....
