Eli came home yesterday after spending the night at a friend's house. "Did you have fun?" I asked.
"Yeah, we watched a movie about Vietnam, and there were these two guys that didn't like each other..."
I looked at him in disbelief. "Was the movie called 'Platoon'?"
"Yeah I think that was the name."
Then we had a chat.
Then I found out the mom of the boy WATCHED IT WITH THEM--wonder what she was thinkin'.
13 year olds and graphic R rated movies, not a good mix.

Whoa!
Nice Job tho' steppin' up to talk with him about it right away.
oof.
I just don't get that. As if it's all right for them to watch if the parent is there?? I love getting the phone call from the friend's house asking if it's ok to watch a particular movie. But, I have a hard time with this issue not being able to watch that kind of stuff myself, I never really know if it's "not that bad" or "really bad". If that kind of graphic violence haunts me, what is it going to do to my children??
Way to go, mom.
The main focus of the chat was "what goes in, stays in". Once you see and hear things, they are in you and you can't undo it.
You are one wise woman. I like the way you get to the point with an easy saying for teens to remember. Way to go MAMA BEAR! God will be honored!
I am sorry he watched that movie. Ugh. Praying for Eli's brain.
Did you call that Mama?
Yeah, did you call her?
I'm sorry...how frustrating.
i can't imagine the thoughts in his head! i can't watch those anymore myself.
