We heat with wood, which has its good points and its bad points. There's that free thing which I love. Our power bills stay the same in the winter and the summer. And of course the heat--yummy warm and cozy.
But then there are...
People come to your house and wish they would have brought their shorts and t-shirts.
We freeze at other people's houses.
You gotta bring in the wood--not so fun when it's -10 outside.
The mess.
The bugs that think it's summer again and wake from their slumber--although it is kind of fun to have a butterfly flitting about the house in January.
Smelling like a campfire most of the time.
I went to the Crim's house one time last winter after Caitlin was born and Ethan said, "Hey Mrs. Noser, your coat smells like hot dogs!"
But for free heat, I'll take it even if I do smell like a hot dog.

I love that your plants grow better in the winter! I love sitting in the chair next to the stove fighting to stay awake during a movie.
The scent...I thought that was just your perfume. Eau de Chien Chaud. It's from Paris. Because you're worth it.
I like coming to your house in the winter. It's SO cozy and I think the wood smells so good. Reminds me of Grandma's house. : )
Also, you ARE worth it.
MMM CAMPFIRE SMELL! It's one of my favorites. I knew there was a reason I liked you Kristi!
We're wood heaters, too. Maybe you don't have to deal with our biggest negative--kids who don't yet appreciate the financial benefits constantly muttering, "I'm never heating with wood!" under their breath.
Once they have to pay a $300--or more power bill they'll change their mind awful quick!
