Eli is in the throes of a dairy reaction. Three days of fever, halucinations, and joint and stomach pain. It started on Saturday when Boy Wonder decided it would be ok to eat a whole cup of cottage cheese. Bad choice, Boy Wonder.
I'll give you a little history.
Ever since Eli was 2 he would go through this. He would get a fever and pain and it would always last three days. We, through much trial and error, decided that it was due to dairy intake. He would be ok for a couple of weeks and then the fevers would start again. We took him off all dairy products until he was 10, and started to introduce them a little at a time. He is ok if he doesn't overdo it, and seems to be able to handle normal amounts of dairy, but when the "barrel" is full, the fever comes. I have not found a medicine that works to take the symptoms away, we just have to "ride it out".
And with the fever come strange "sightings". Two o'clock on Sunday morning he came into our room and woke me up.
"Mom, you know those plants everyone has growing inside them?"
"Um, ok honey."
"Well when you touch them, they take over."
"Oh, dear, here's some more chamomile, go back to sleep now."
And, since he sleeps most of the day because of the fever, he is up most of the night. Poppers gallantly took the "first shift" last night. Go into his room, give him some chamomile, lie down with him, wait 'til he goes to sleep, sneak out to our bed and try to get a few winks before he wakes up from another bad dream.
Eli, no milk soup for you!

Oh the poor boy. I hope the three days go by quickly. I'm glad you know why he's sick and that it'll end soon. I can imagine completely freaking out with worry the first time around. I'll say a prayer for the Noser household.
So sorry Eli and family. Hope this passes quickly. Milk can be your friend.
Is it just raw dairy? Can Eli eat desserts that used milk or cream that was cooked? Does he have a favorite?
Mark
Any kind of dairy causes this reaction, but it is a "barrel"-type thing. He can have some here and there, no problem, but when he goes overboard and isn't careful, WHAM!
