Paint By Numero Uno

Finally painted the great room floor this evening. I have been putting it off for weeks, the job just seemed too huge for me. When I have to do something that seems like too much work, I can put it off for a looong time--hey I'm human!
I mentioned that I needed to paint the floor a few days ago to a co-worker and she chuckled, she had been listening to me go on and on about the cool way I was going to paint the floor, she thought I'd done it already--weeks ago.
I called Kori (numero uno--as in sister) today for an unrelated issue, and mentioned that I still had the floor to paint. She said she would come--keep in mind she lives 40 miles away--and help me. Whatta woman.
I got home from work and started the clean-up (really the part I dreaded most) and that took me the better part of an hour, and taped the baseboard area. When she arrived, we got started. The floor is the base floor for the room we built on and is that chip board stuff, so after trying the paint pan and finding it too slow, we ended up pouring the paint in long lines and running the rollers through the puddles. That worked great. All in all, it took us less than three hours to do two coats. We left an hour after the first coat for dry time, took off our shoes and did the second coat in our bare feet--just in case we hit a wet area or two. When we had gotten it all painted for the second time, I saw a little puddle right in the middle of the room. Hmmm. I stepped out on the floor to reach it with the roller and found that if I moved my feet it was like I was trying to walk in Wesson oil. So I slipped and slid out to the center "woah woahing" all the way. Hannah said if she would have had a video camera, she would have sent the tape to AFV. I Painted over my feet tracks on the way (woah) back and all done. Now all we have to do is paint the pattern to look like a big rug and it will look sweet. One huge hurdle out of the way. Thanks Korker.

For some reason when I first read this I read "bug rug" rather than "big rug". I thought to my self "what?" It's June Bug central around here, so that's what first came to my mind!!! Glad to know your not painting bugs onto your floor.
