Laff

I think you all know that Kelli and I deliver papers on Wednesdays, and one of our unspoken goals is to make the people behind the counter smile, if not laugh. Today was a SCORE!
One of the places we deliver papers has, behind the counter, one of the most overstressed people I have ever met. He just started a couple of months ago, and he is intelligent (I'm sorry, but a rare commodity in the gas-station-cashier trade) so they slammed a LOT on him for the first few weeks. He also had to deal with an $85 drive-off his second week. Overstressed. So I always try to make him smile, but as yet have been unsuccessful.
Well today I was getting done putting the papers in the rack, and asked him how it was going.
"Well I gotta push it."
"What?" I asked.
"If you want it to go you gotta push it, right?" he replied.
"Yeah," I said, "remember 'Frank Frank Turned a Crank' from when we were in grade school?"
He smiled (SCORE!) "Joe, Joe made it go?"
I laughed, "And then there was Art"
A smile and a laugh--DOUBLE SCORE!!!

And the best thing is that not only does he get to laugh, but then we get to laugh over the laugh! And, boy! did we!! That was almost as good as the "If Ya Know What I Mean" belly cruncher from two weeks ago. Man...I love to be laughing so hard that tears are coming down and then look over at the driver next to us!! Laughter, one of God's great gifts.

Today's "secret letters" were CUSME...as in "I told them I didn't do it but they was ready to CUSME."
