I never used to let my children say this. Because I didn't want them to use it for its intended purpose. To tell people to be quiet. This is not a happy phrase when children say it to one another. So until you're older and can use it properly, you don't get to use it at all.
Shut up, when I say it means the same as "you're kidding!". I don't really mean that I want you to stop talking, but that I want you to talk more! Same with "Oh come on!", "Knock it off!", and the like. All of them used to urge the talker on.
Don't misundertake me, (that may or may not be a word, but I like it, so shut up) I use the phrase for the intended purpose often enough I guess, I tell people to shut up all the time. Always in fun, though, so don't take offense. I used to bowl with a lady that got really offended when I told her that one day, and she stopped talking altogether. Good grief, grow up. Any adult that cannot take someone playing and telling them to shut up, I don't want to hear any more anyway.
I have a friend that says "Shut your yapper!". I think that is one of the funniest things I have ever heard. Especially when she says it. She emailed it to me one day and I laughed for a long time. I don't know why it hits me as so funny, but it does. Maybe the person who says it, because she's not the type of person you'd expect to say something like this. Gotta love her.
So when you hear me telling someone to shut up, don't think I'm a rotten person. I'm really having fun with them, not being mean. I guess anyone that knows me already knows that,
so shut up and tell me about it.

naw, just had to have some fun with it.
speaking of fun, "Turn the Beat Around" just started playing. I think I'm gonna go dance.... (btw, I hate dancing and look pretty ugly when attempting it, so don't even ask me to ever dance at anything!)
Here is another song with potential for messed-up lyrics.
Turn the beat around,
got to have good motion
got to locomotion
got to make a motion
go and drink that potion
