I've had so many comments about this I decided rather than make another comment I would blog on it. Then Porter will read it--just kidding, Porter, I stand corrected.
You know that new Thanksgiving tradition "turducken"? Which is, if I understand it, a chicken stuffed in a duck stuffed in a turkey. All the rage last year I guess. I think we should institute something like that for the pig roast. Let me think. A rabbit stuffed in a turkey stuffed in the pig. Pigurkit. Sounds like the porker barfed..can't use that one--or that could sound like we ARE using kittens--neither one a good thing. Ok, I have it. Hogturbit. Do you think people will come to a Hogturbit party? Whaddya think?
As far as the line being crossed, not even. Especially when you are talking about cats. My thinking is, so many cats, so few recipes.
This is a little off the subject, but still in keeping with eating dead animals--don't call PETA. John's rule for Eli is that he can't shoot anything with his gun that he is not willing to eat (with the exception of the striped gophers that are burrowing under our garage). This keeps Eli from being over-shootery and killing everything in sight. Eli is a crack shot, and if he intends to kill it, he usually does, so this is a good rule. But I did witness an occasion last year where John and Eli actually shot, cooked and ate a woodchuck. Sad state of affairs there.
Oh, another dead animal thing. Hannah once saw (and pined after) a t-shirt that said "If God doesn't want us to eat animals, why'd He make them out of meat?".
