Driving back home from class last night, I got to thinking. I know, scary. What's going on with the Wacouta bridge? Stuck in traffic on 494, and there sits this half-finished span-o-beauty and NOBODY working on it. Not one person even on the thing. What the heck is up with that? I looked online and Googled Wacouta bridge, and the article said it was "one of the largest ongoing projects in the state". Ongoing? Don't you have to actually be going to be ongoing? I was under the impression that this behemoth was supposed to be done last year. Yes? No? I wonder who the contractor is. Who is paying this company? Do they get paid as they go, or when it is finished? Wouldn't you just want to get the thing done? All of these questions probably answer the question as to why I'm not a contractor, but c'mon!
Insights into this quandry are welcomed, especially those of you who know more about this than I do. That includes everyone but the guy that stands on the corner in the Quiznos cup and dances. Come to think of it, maybe him too. Maybe he is supposed to be working on the Wacouta bridge and has to do the stupid Quiznos thing because...ahem, nobody is working on it!!

The only person I trust less than politicians and salesmen is a contractor.
But, it could always be worse. Look what happened with the Big Dig: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Big_Dig#The_project_today.
Wild Bill told me yesterday that the designer/architect messed up somewhere and they have to fix the problem before they can continue-- or rebuild the thing--whichever comes first. Who knows when people that have to drive the 494 madness will have any relief?
I bet the contractor on this project is the same guy that's in charge of the Crazy Horse monument in South Dakota and look how long that one's taken!! They'll probably go back to the quick method of crossing the river...the ferry!
At least Crazy Horse Monument is a private endeavor that's not taking our tax dollars.
