Home Again Innigan Finnigan

Ahhhhh. My own bed. Isn't it just the nicest thing to sleep in your own bed after a trip? Yep, that's the life. Just no place like home. We got home on Thurs about 9:30 pm. Stayed at the rellies in Ohio on the way back. Played some cards and caught up. Those of you who haven't met the extended Noser family--there's some missing out going on here. These are some fun people. Can't wait until June when they come here. Pigroast. June 10. Be there.
Hannah and I were talking about how long we were in the car--all told about 48 hours and change--not counting running around while we were at A&K's. Wow. Hannah doesn't like being in the car for extended periods of time, so she was really having a hard time by the time we were headed home. Good thing she can drive now, that takes some of the boredom away. I really think the trip is worth it. Just to see the people we love, and spend some time with them. I'd drive farther! But then again, I love to drive.
We hit snow in Chicago on the way home. I couldn't see five cars in front of me. A little unnerving when everyone is still going as fast as they can. I think the city of Chicago wasted their money on speed limit signs. Downtown the speed limit is 45 or 50 depending on where you are, and I was, well, exceeding this limit by a bit, and people were passing me like I was standing still. You just don't go the speed limit there. You'll get pasted. We did have an incident of air-sucking, however. I saw the semi tractor coming from behind, but when he cut in front of the car behind me, and missed my bumper by inches I knew we were in for a scare.
When he cut in front of me the same way, barely missing my front bumper as well (An equal-opportunity bumper misser), Eli had to talk himself out of an anxiety attack. I heard him every once in a while saying, "It's ok, he missed us, it's all over now." Poor guy, never sat in the front seat in that kind of traffic before. That one was too close for comfort!
The snow quit about a hour west of Chicago, so the rest of the trip was easy and uneventful.
All in all it was a great trip. Can't wait to do it again.
